Experience the Health Benefits of Green Tea

Green Tea

Green tea is one of the most popular teas in the world, and for good reason. Reap the benefits of this antioxidant-rich powerhouse with recipes that reimagine what it means to enjoy green tea.

It’s no wonder that green tea is revered in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, and tends to be a staple in our modern pantries. Containing about half the amount of caffeine as the same serving of coffee, sipping green tea is just as energizing as it is beneficial. The secret to the potency of these tea leaves lies in their unrivaled flavonoid content, a type of antioxidant that helps support your body’s ability to manage oxidative stress.

Flavonoids like epigallocatechin-3-gallate and other compounds called catechins are abundant in green tea and make up about 30% of the dry weight of the leaf. These compounds are the catalysts for green tea’s laundry list of benefits, from oral health to immune support.

The catechins in green tea operate as potent free radical scavengers. When sipped or held in the mouth, green tea has been proven to help support oral health by helping soothe irritation and promoting the balance of beneficial bacteria in the oral microbiome.

When you receive your recommendations from your Viome test results, you could see green tea as a "Superfood" to support a variety of your health scores when needed, including your joints, your oral and gum health, as well as healthy weight maintenance support. In addition, green tea has never been recommended as an “Avoid” food in our Viome food recommendations.
