Focusing on gut health
Your High-Level Integrative Functional Health Score for Gut Microbiome Health is made up of 20+ supporting scores and pathway scores that reveal insights into gut microbiome including gut lining health, metabolic efficiency, your microbiome's ability to break down protein, and more!

Gut Microbiome Health
Active microbial organisms and functions that are associated with your blood sugar, insulin resistance, or weight control.
A comprehensive microbial reflection of your gastrointestinal (GI) tract functions. The score consists of multiple activity patterns related to digestion and specific macronutrient breakdown ability.
A measurement of the activities of your microbes that can contribute to or reflect an immune response in your gut environment that can be caused by harmful things your microbes produce when you are either inefficiently digesting your proteins, have excessive microbial gas production, or simply have a gut environment that your microbes perceive as threatening.
Active Microbial Diversity
Your percentile for the total count of active microbial species detected and sequenced from your sample. A good score translates to more richness, which in turn can provide more resilience to your microbial gut ecosystem and your body.
An assessment of your overall gas production activity by the microbes in your gut. Overall high microbial gas production has been associated with digestive difficulties, discomfort, and gut health.
Gut Lining Health
This score focuses on your gut lining (or intestinal barrier) and the health of the mucosal layer that protects it. When your gut lining is compromised, things from the outside environment, like toxins, medications, and harmful bacteria, can make their way into your bloodstream from your gut and negatively affect your immune system and overall wellbeing.
This score reflects whether or not you are digesting your proteins properly. If the protein is not fully broken down through this process, your microbes will digest the excess protein available and may convert it into harmful byproducts.
Your Food & Supplement Recommendations
Supplement and probiotic recommendations selected from over 200 ingredients in your precise dosage needs.
We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all supplement recommendations, short quizzes, or Google when it comes to determining what you really need. Based on your gut microbiome, some commonly believed universal ‘beneficial’ supplements could actually interfere with how your body operates. We assess what your body needs at a molecular level to ensure maximum impact and precision so you get enough of what you need, and nothing extra.

When you join Viome, you’ll have the option to take part in our mission to make illness optional by participating in clinical studies to predict and prevent chronic diseases through a deeper understanding of an individual’s biology at a molecular level.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I test my gut microbiome?
Viome uses a proprietary technology, originally developed at the Los Alamos National Laboratory called metatranscriptomic sequencing. This technology allows us to see every microorganism in your gut microbiome and analyze the activity of these microorganisms. This far surpasses any other gut testing technology, such as 16S and Metagenomic Analysis (which both use DNA), as metatranscriptomics looks at RNA and identifies all microorganisms living in your gut: bacteria, viruses, archaea, yeast, fungi, and eukaryotes, as well as what those microbes do and produce there, giving you the fullest picture available of your current gut microbiome health. Most microbes are neither absolutely good nor bad. It depends on the functions your microbes are performing and how they’re working together. Our snapshot of your current microbiome health gives you the full story on your microbes, what they’re doing and producing.
Can my gut microbiome change when I implement my recommendations?
Yes! When you implement your Viome food and supplement recommendations, your microbiome may experience changes. And in fact, your gut microbiome is constantly in flux depending on what you feed it, along with environmental conditions, such as stress. As everybody’s gut microbiome is unique, how fast or slow these changes happen all depends on you and your personal journey.
What will I get if I test with Health Intelligence instead of Gut Intelligence?
Viome’s Gut Intelligence Test is our original, groundbreaking health test that uses a stool sample to measure your microbial gene expression and gives you insights about your gut microbiome health along with nutrition recommendations to help improve areas that need attention.
With our latest test, Health Intelligence, we build on the foundation of our Gut Intelligence Test to reveal how your gut microbiome is impacting the rest of your body. With this test, we analyze not only microbial gene expression, but also mitochondrial and human gene expression.
Health Intelligence gives you insights into Cellular Health, Immune System Health, Stress Response Health, Mitochondrial Health, and Biological Age plus over 30 more subscores beneath these main health areas. Your food, supplement, probiotic, and prebiotic recommendations are based on these scores and your full profile analysis.
