CancerDetect FAQs
Do I need to make any changes to my current medications or supplements or diet before testing?
No, It is not recommended to make any changes to your current medications or supplements, or diet before testing. The only requirements for taking CancerDetect® Oral & Throat are:
fast for at least 8 hours (Don't eat or drink anything but water before bed; just like what you do before taking a blood test. Fasting less than 8 hours can affect your saliva sample quality.)
then collect your sample within 1 hour of waking up before eating or drinking anything but water AND before brushing your teeth or using mouthwash. Food and mouth cleaning products, including mouthwash, can affect your saliva sample quality and may lead to sample rejection by the lab or an inaccurate test result.
When is the best time to collect my saliva sample?
Collecting your saliva should be done first thing in the morning, after fasting for at least 8 hours and within 1 hour after you wake, before brushing your teeth or using mouthwash, or before eating any food or drinking anything other than water. Fasting less than 8 hours, or having had food or brushed teeth can affect your saliva sample quality, and may lead to sample rejection by the lab or an inaccurate test result.
How long does it take to receive my results and recommendations?
Once we have received your sample(s) and you have completed your questionnaire, it will take about 2-3 weeks to receive your health scores and recommendations. If you have subscribed to your personalized products already, it will take between 5-14 days from the time you receive your results to the time you receive your products at your door.
Is CancerDetect available in my country?
CancerDetect is currently only available in the US, excluding NY state.
How do you store my information?
Viome stores your information securely. To ensure the confidentiality of your data and your results, we separate users' personally identifiable information (PII) from personal health information (PHI) and use multiple layers of encryption. We do not provide your information or results to employers or health insurance companies. Viome will never sell your information to any other group or company.
